What Determines Your Replacement Cost?
Every home is different. We evaluate these key factors onsite to give you an accurate, upfront quote before work begins.
Call for Quote
Coil size and tonnage. A larger system needs a larger, more expensive coil.
Call for Quote
Refrigerant type. Older R-22 systems cost more to recover and recharge than R-410A.
Call for Quote
OEM versus universal coil. A manufacturer-matched coil typically costs more than a universal fit.
Call for Quote
Access and location. A coil in a tight attic or closet takes longer to remove and replace.
Call for Quote
Remaining manufacturer warranty on the coil, if the system is still within its original coverage window.
Included
Refrigerant recovery, vacuum, and recharge are part of every coil replacement job.
Signs Your Evaporator Coil Needs Replacing
Coil Is Frozen or Iced Over
Repeated freezing after a repair usually means the coil itself has a leak or damage a cleaning won’t fix.
Visible Corrosion or Pitting
Corroded copper tubing on the coil is a sign of age-related failure, not a one-time issue.
Recurring Refrigerant Leaks
If a technician has sealed the same leak more than once, the coil is likely the source and needs replacing.
Inadequate Cooling Performance
A properly charged system that still won’t cool points to restricted or damaged coil surface area.
System Is Past 10-12 Years Old
Coils in older systems become more prone to pinhole leaks as the copper and coating wear down.
When Repair Isn’t Worth It
Once coil repair pricing nears full replacement, replacing it usually holds up longer.

What Our Customers Say
Armando and Aaron, are extremely courteous, and friendly. Showed up on time, informed us of the steps, and the job to their best, explained me the issues, and the solutions. Documented all the work. Would highly recommend.
Honeycomb was fantastic. Not only did they get to me fast, the repairmen (Dorian & Fernando) were friendly, professional, they explained everything, and got the work done quickly. And the best part, they were able to diagnose the issue, after another company told me my whole unit need to be replaced. Definitely recommend them!
Gil and Manuel did an amazing job replacing an evaporator coil and were very friendly and knowledgeable.

Frequently Asked Questions for Evaporator Coil Replacement
How much does evaporator coil replacement cost?
Cost depends on coil size, refrigerant type, and whether an OEM or universal coil is used, so we don’t publish a flat number. A technician diagnoses the system and gives you a documented quote before any work starts.
Can the evaporator coil be repaired instead of replaced?
A small, isolated leak can sometimes be sealed. Recurring leaks, corrosion, or damage across the coil usually mean a repair won’t hold and replacement is the better long-term fix.
What are the signs my evaporator coil is failing?
Ice buildup on the coil, reduced cooling despite a full refrigerant charge, and refrigerant leaks that keep coming back after a repair are the most common signs.
How long does evaporator coil replacement take?
Most coil replacements are completed in a single visit, including refrigerant recovery, coil swap, vacuum, and recharge. Tight access spaces can extend the job.
